Each massage is customized to the client utilizing one or more of the techniques listed below:

Swedish Massage: Relaxing and gentle flowing strokes with light to moderate pressure. Increased circulation, stimulation of the relaxation response, and some relief of sore muscle tissues are experienced.

Myofascial Release (Beverly only): A Gentle stretching of the fascia, or tissue that holds the body together. This tissue comprises muscles as well as organs and begins the process of unwinding areas that hold great tension. With this unwinding of tissue, more mobility, and release of muscle tissue can result.

Trigger Point Therapy (Beverly only): This is a deep massage utilizing the use of specifically applied pressure to the nerve junctions or trigger points within the muscle tissue. By applying pressure to these points, release of tight muscles and pain result.

Neuromuscular Therapy/Deep Tissue: Deep pressure applied in conjuncture with active and passive stretches that help to restructure the body’s posture and functionality. Increased Range of Motion and alleviation of pain are experienced.

Sports Massage: Sports Massage has become an integral part of any athletic routine. Fitness includes not only the exercise itself but care for the wear and tear exercise can have on your muscles. Sports massage helps stiffness and soreness, helps recovery time and can treat injury.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM YOUR SESSION

All sessions are held in the privacy of the Brazos Healing Center – a soothing space that affords clients complete comfort and relaxation. If it’s your first time visiting one of our massage therapists, you will be asked some questions and you will be required to complete the Massage Intake Form and a Client Profile and Waiver Form (if you haven’t done either prior to visiting the center).

First and foremost, each massage therapist will need to make sure there aren’t any conditions present that rule out massage therapy due to any health risks.

Second, the massage therapist will need to know what your needs are regarding massage therapy and be sure both of you are clear about what your expectations and goals for the session are.

Third, the information you provide helps determine what techniques to use and how to structure the session, since if a localized area presents pain or discomfort, it’s not unusual that the entire session might be centered around this area.
