  • Freedom Yoga Class Series with Carie Garrett

Carie will offer two 6-class series in Freedom Yoga, which has its roots in Hatha Yoga, but offers students a chance to experience an active and/or gentle practice. Choose one of the two following series or register for both series to save!

Freedom Yoga: Active Practice – Tuesdays, 7:00pm to 8:30pm (Meets May 15-June 26, No class June 12)
$85 for Tuesday Series – Sign up online here. Save $20 by signing up for both the Gentle and Active Practice Series (12 classes) for $150 – click here to sign up online.
The Tuesday evening class is a more active practice, which incorporates sun salutations, standing poses, and inversions. Generally, we work toward intermediate-level poses, but not always. Each class is tailored to the specific needs of the group that night and circulates around the theme of listening for inner guidance and following your sense of rightness in the poses, and in life. Class includes discussion, meditation, creative asana sequences, guided-from-within freeform yoga, and deep relaxation. Appropriate for all levels.

Freedom Style Yoga: Gentle Practice – Thursdays, 7:00pm to 8:30pm (Meets May 17-June 28, No class June 14)
$85 for Thursday Series – Sign up online hereSave $20 by signing up for both the Gentle and Active Practice Series (12 classes) for $150 – click here to sign up online.
The Thursday evening class is geared toward restoration and relaxation. It’s a lovely way to end the week and is a terrific compliment to the Tues class. All the movements are slow and fluid and most are done either sitting or lying down. Class includes discussion, meditation, gentle sequences designed to help you erase your tight spots and settle into your center, and restorative sequences using props to help your body deeply relax and let go of tension. Appropriate for all levels.

Taught by Suzanne Droleskey. This class will be designed for older people who want to learn techniques that they can practice on their own to regain strength, flexibility and balance as a way to prevent falls, which are the #1 cause of death for those over age 65.  Students age 55 and older will learn Tai Chi that has been modified to address improvement of range of motion, joint flexibility, and stamina.  Individuals with limited mobility from arthritis will also benefit from this class as research has shown Tai Chi to reduce pain caused by arthritis.  Dedicated students should be able to see improvement by the end of the class sessions and be able to continue the Tai Chi movements on their own.
